Friends of the Disabled Association (FDA) is an independent non-profit and non-government organization. It was founded in year 1978 by a group of parents of children with mental disability. In 1982, prominent members of the society, who have long served destitute and disadvantaged families and children, joined in as members of the FDA.

The Association is licensed by the Government of Lebanon under Decree No.60/a.d.-dated 26/4/1978.

FDA comprises two bodies:

• the Board of Directors, and
• the General Assembly Members.

The members of the board are elected by the General Assembly every three years. The board is assisted by committees nominated by the elected office.

The Board of Directors represents and is officially responsible for running the FDA organization.

FDA's General Assembly is comprised of over 50% of parents and people with disability. As well as the parents constitute the majority of the Board of Directors.
